I’ve had the pleasure of working with Julman Tolentino to shift the hearts and minds of youth and adults of all races, religions, and cultures. His presence provides a warmth that draws you into a place of serenity. Julman is remarkably dynamic in his ability to connect with individuals. His dedication to social justice and the healing from oppression is unparalleled.
President and CEO
American Conference on Diversity
I met Julman Tolentino when we were both hired as advisers at LaGuardia Community College. I could tell immediately that he had a strong drive to fight for educational equity and a gift for facilitating trainings and conversations with staff members that helped raise critical consciousness. He also led our program to create a vision, define goals, and develop metrics to hold ourselves accountable to the success of our students.
In January 2016, I attended a three-day conference on diversity and equity that Julman co-facilitated. I was impressed by his ability to help educators like myself reflect on our practice and use concrete tools to ensure we are effective in our work for diversity and justice. I consider Julman to be a role model and often find myself quoting him or asking for his advice as a I lead professional development sessions for my staff and teachers.
Director, Brooklyn Program
Teach for America
I have known Julman Tolentino for over 15 years and have worked closely with him on a variety of projects. He has a sincere conviction for improving the lives of others and the society we live in. His years of experience and overall effectiveness in human relations and diversity work demonstrates his true commitment to fighting for the human dignity of others.
In 2013, I served as the Associate Director for Student Life at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Having recently been awarded a grant to develop and offer a new Men’s Retreat for the campus, I turned to Julman as one of a select few to assist me with the development and coordination of this program. The program was a resounding success and continues to be a popular, annual event for that campus. I would highly recommend Julman as an exceptionally skilled social justice consultant.
